Angel Lopez
Angel
Lopez was born in Las Piedras, Puerto Rico, his passion for
music started as early as the age of 7. At 17 he already was
performing in numerous musical groups that were heard on Puerto
Rican radio stations. In 1997, Angel Lopez became seriously
involved in music after joining a local musical group known
as “Son by Four”. In 2003, their album, under Sony
Latin label with a successful self-titled record featuring
the smash single hit, “Purest of Pain”, interpreted
by Angel Lopez, achieved a Latin Grammy Award; it obtained
Certified Gold and topped the #1 spot on several international
charts. It's first two singles went #1, on Billboard's Hot
Latin Tracks and “Purest of Pain”, stayed on the
charts for 43 consecutive weeks, as a major achievement for
a new artist. In 2005, Angel Lopez will present his 4th solo
production. Simultaneously, he will be honored with a Proclamation
as the Personality of the Year, The Keys to the City of Newark
and other municipalities, granted by the Governor of New Jersey
and the prestigious International Hispanic Society for his
pinnacle of achievements, the support to the cause of the more
needy, and his concern to minimized the pain of the unfortunate
people that serve as an inspiration for all Americans.
His charisma, voice, and amazing accomplishments, remind us
on a daily basis what it means to believe in a dream. He is
simple man with a huge heart, and considers himself the nucleus
of his family inspired by his three children and wife whom
he considers the source of his inspiration and strength that
drive him to his success.
“To be the nucleus of a family is something of great
responsibility and pleasure. I can imagine the suffering of
the people that lack the resources to offer their families
a better life. I place myself in their shoes, and when I think
of them it’s hard to imagine my family in that horrible
situation. Those people are the source of inspiration and I
have plenty of reasons to contribute with my art to their happiness
and bring a beautiful smile to their faces”, said Lopez
on an interview.
Angel Lopez has won the heart of multitudes not only because
of the quality and diversity of his music, he has also given
his support to non-profit organizations that are looking to
provide financial and spiritual aid to those who are mostly
in need. He has participated in campaigns to raise money organized
by The Association of Children with Leukemia, The American
Cancer Society, and Telethons to help handicapped children
in approximately a dozen countries of Latin America and the
Caribbean.
With all the accomplishments mentioned
above, the native of “Las
Piedras”, Puerto Rico, deserves the recognition of “Personality
of the Year” that is granted by New Jersey with an enormous
public celebration to distinguish the individuals that contribute
with their success to enrich the image of Latinos in U.S. This
cultural event is created as part of the numerous activities
to celebrate The Month of the Hispanic Heritage that includes
also a parade that runs through the main avenues of New Jersey,
and at the same time concurs with the release of his 4th single
solo production.
This highly expected 4th solo CD which
name is to be announced in the near future, illustrates the
maturity of performance reached by Angel Lopez and the diversity
that only a powerful production can create. With his 4th
release from OLe due out in November 2005, Angel Lopez has
emerged as a new version of Reggaeton Madness. This new release
will mostly be concentrated on Reggaeton (Latin Rap) music
from such artist as Luney Tunes, Daddy Yankee, Tego Calderon,
and many others of Angel Lopez’s
