Biography: Geared towards stage and theater, private and corporate parties, wine bars, bistros, and upscale restaurants as relaxing background ambiance, the music of David Gallegos is an all acoustic, instrumental Latin New Age / Nouveau Flamenco style.
Performing a mix of originals from his CD, "Mis Recuerdos" as well as covers of artists in the same genre, David and his band perform with extreme passion and emotion.
The band has been together and gigging for only a year, but between each musician, everyone has had many years of experience performing in various styles of bands.
David, having picked up the guitar at the age of 13, has been playing well over 23 years now. Originally playing rock and metal for the greater portion of his career, David eventually began listening to and writing music with a softer, more emotional touch. In 2003, he decided to branch off from the progressive metal writing with his band, Power of Omens, and begin work on his first full-length Latin new age CD. Already a 12 year veteran to the music industry, with 2 internationally released CDs, contribution to a Queensryche tribute CD, and as a guest artist on one of Sony Recording Tejano Artists, Eddie Gonzales' CD, David took his experience and decided to write, record, design, and release his CD completely on his own. After a year of hard work, the CD, 'Mis Recuerdos' was finally self-released in the Fall / Winter of 2004.
Now with a completed CD, and the desire to begin showcasing his music, David became a member of BMI in 2005, and decided to move from his home in San Antonio to Dallas, where he felt he would have a better opportunities playing out and getting recognition for his music.
Here is where David met guitarist Sammy Echeverry, whose drive and passion for music made him the perfect fit as rhythm and harmony guitarist. Sammy, an experienced musician in the Dallas area was no stranger to the local and national scene... playing in several bands, showcasing their talent and music for many years.
After a few months of working together, David was introduced to Rick Read through a mutual friend. Rick, originally a progressive / experimental bassist in the Dallas scene, has played and sessioned for many bands in the area... his experience and hard work ethics proved to be just what the band needed.
Fortunately for David, Rick was also band mates as well as room mates with drummer / percussionist Ross Young... who's drive, solid playing, and attention to detail made for the perfect completion to the band.
After a few months of hard work, the four of them soon found themselves building their set list and showcasing songs from David's 1st CD as well as several covers.
Since the beginning of 2006, the band has aggressively begun to play out. From wine bars and bistros to restaurants and festivals. As regulars at The Broadway Bistro in Carrollton and Xouba Lounge in Arlington to the Morton Meyerson Symphony Hall's Hispanic Festival in Dallas' beautiful art district. The band continues working hard and is constantly looking for new bookings. Along with live showcases, David has begun working on a second CD along with plans for a "live" DVD shoot for a future release.
