Manuel Vargas was born in Tecalitlan,
Jalisco, home of the Best Mariachi in the World- "Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan".
Manuel is a descendent of the founder of "Mariachi Vargas
de Tecalitlan", Gaspar y Silvestre Vargas.
Under the direction of his father, Manuel
learned a respect and commitment to the traditions of Mariachi
music. In addition, thanks to the musical influences of Don
Ruben Fuentes and his great friend, Pepe Martinez- Musical
Director of Mariachi Vargas, Manuel became a great violinist
and lead singer of "Mariachi
Vargas de Tecalitlan". For 10 years Manuel traveled the
world interpreting the greatest Mexican songs of yesterday and
today.
In 1994 Manuel was awarded the Premio a la Excelencia by the
show, Premio Lo Nuestro.
In 2001, Manuel received 2 Latin Grammy
Nominations for his album, "Por Amor". His nominations
were in the categories, Best Album - Ranchero and since he
started his solo career he was also nominated as Best New Artist.
Manuel's San Antonio based group, Sangre Mexicana, continues
to tour the nation. To hear Manuel sing is a definite treat.
