Mr Regason

Born in Puerto Rico in 1981, Anibal Oyola was born into a world of music, rhythm, and dance. Those first few years would shape his future ambitions, but in 1986 the family moved to Detroit Michigan. Though immersed into another world, music and rhythm remained a part of young Anibal’s environment. Still the family hadn’t found its niche; and moved on to Rochester New York. It was there that he was introduced to rap. He had cousins that rapped and they would take him along to the studio. The only problem was that they would use him for subject matter when they freestyled; so much that he had to learn to freestyle to defend himself. This was the beginning of the Mr. Regason’s future. However, it was around this time he started being called “Pichy”. And the family wasn’t finished relocating.

Very close to Puerto Rico in climate and latitude, Florida was their the choice; fortune having him moves to the south around the time the record industry was starting to invest in music from that region. It wasn’t long before “Pichy”was becoming a strong talent. He soon became a fixture on the open mic circuit locally and regionally. Finally he ended up at Rising Sun Music Studios and started to learn how to make records. He was originally part of a project for another artist but soon got the attention of John Seda, president of Rising Sun Music. John started to feature “Pichy” on some projects and was impressed with how easily he worked with the musicians that recorded at the studio. “Pichy had the opportunity to work with the likes of Tony Perez, Colo, Eddie “Gua Gua” Rivera, Victor Payano, and 3 To Get Funky while at Rising Sun Music. But his work got the attention of other people and “Pichy” left Rising Sun Music for a management arrangement. While under this management he got the opportunity to work with the likes of B Roc, 8Ball And M JG, and Trick Daddy. But it was a far cry from his roots in Puerto Rico where the beats and the rhythm?

Eventually the management relationship ended and Pichy contacted John Seda at Rising Sun Music. Rising Sun Music had just finished a project very close to the roots Pichy was used to. They decided to do a few test tracks and see what developed. What came out was “Mr. Regason”, his first full project on Rising Sun Music. Says Mr. Reggae Son, “I grew up rapping to all kinds of beats. So, my music is diverse, which is something they love at Rising Sun Music anyway. You will hear a lot of different beats and rhythms, a lot of feels and styles in my music I think the world is ready for my sound. .
