Vilma Diaz, a brilliant Colombian singer,
recognized internationally for her mastery of the "Cumbia" rhythm. Born in Medellin,
Colombia, a city that prepared her to be one of the main vocalists
for groups such as "La Sonora Dinamita", "La Internacional
Sonora Show" and "Vilma Diaz y La Sonora".
At the age of 20, record label: Discos
Fuentes discovered her talent and she was offered a recording
contract. The quality and power of her voice permitted her
to become one of the lead vocals for "Sonora Dinamita" which is a favorite through
out Mexico, Central and South America. In 1989 and already being
part of "Sonora Dinamita" had numerous hits such as "Suspiros". "Ya
Para Que","Chiquita Pero Cumplidora" and "ESCANDALO" .
This song is practically a musical hymn and classic hit for the
group and which gives her the opportunity to form her own musical
group "La Internacional Sonora Show" with her partner
Iquique Vargas Senior (Kiko). This new group maintains the original
Colombian musicians that also played and recorded with "Sonora
Dinamita", "La Internacional Sonora Show".
As a result of the success of the hit "ESCANDALO" Vilma
became recognized as "Diva De La Cumbia".
In 1995, "No Te Vayas Nunca", "La Virgen De La
Macarena" and "La Malagueila"became major hits
in Mexico within Tropical music. Her 1999 Vilma released the
CD "Siempre Adelante" which contained the hit song "Mirada
Latina".
Vilma has appeared on numerous television
shows such as "Sabado
Gigante", "La Movida", "Siempre En Domingo", "El
Show de Johnny Canales". "Adelante Hispanos"as
well as live performances in "Fiesta Broadway", "Festival
De La Calle 8", "Latin Pride", "Macroplaza"(Monterrey-Mexico), "Sport
Arena". "Madison Square Garden" , "Hollywood
Park" and many places in Canada and El Salvador. Her life
and hit songs have been covered in all the top publications such
as "TV y Novelas", "Furia Musical", etc.
In addition, she has appeared in several TV commercials such
as: 1-800-collect en Español, Coors-Lite. Miller Lite.
La Curacao and others.
Vilma continue to sing her hit songs with her implacable voice
and with her orchestra. The artistic world is for the stars and
she is one that will never stop glowing bright for those who
will come to see her sing and shine on stage. She continues to
work on new and fresh projects, working very hard to satisfy
those who are and will always be her admirers, which for her
