La Excelencia

La Excelencia is co-owned by Julian Silva and Jose Vazquez-Cofresi who in 2005 formed the orchestra in New York City. The orchestra was created with the intention to bring a new outlook to salsa music by being hip, young, writing about social issues, and breaking the mold yet not losing the true roots of salsa. The hard life of the barrio is reflected in La Excelencia music through their hardcore salsa sounds known as “salsa dura”. The music of La Excelencia has been referred to as fresh, original, danceable, contagious, and bringing social awareness to all.

In 2006 La Excelencia released their freshman project ‘Salsa Con Conciencia’ which was highly received throughout the world. ‘Salsa Con Conciencia’ sold over 9000 units without major distribution. La Excelencia’s music can be found on countless salsa/world music compilations, motions pictures, instructional DVDs, and can also be heard on radio stations and satellite radio both nationally and internationally.

With the immediate success of ‘Salsa Con Conciencia’, La Excelencia began touring extensively headlining some of the top festivals, venues, salsa congresses, and performance art centers around the world. On tour La Excelencia has sold-out venues at maximum capacity and continues to build momentum by garnering a loyal fan base worldwide. A few of the events La Excelencia has performed at are, The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival (USA), The Afro-Latino Festival (Belgium), New York International Salsa Congress (USA), Oslo Kongressenter (Norway), and Lincoln Center for Performing Arts (USA) to name a few.

After much global anticipation on January 2009 La Excelencia released their sophomore CD ‘Mi Tumbao Social’. This CD showcases the versatility of La Excelencia and its many talents within the orchestra. Vocalist Edwin Perez and Gilberto Velazquez do a great job of interpreting ten tracks plus the bonus track sung duo by the two young soneros. In March 2009 Latin Beat Magazine put La Excelencia on the cover of their magazine with a full story on the orchestra by Pablo Yglesias. Critics have already begun to claim ‘Mi Tumbao Social’ as one of the best salsa CD’s to come out in a long time. Already thousands of CD’s have been shipped around the world and the feedback has been bigger then La Excelencia imagined.

As the success of La Excelencia grows so does the orchestras fan base which is quickly making La Excelencia one of the most sought out salsa orchestras in the world. La Excelencia tour schedule continues to reach further and further across the globe so that fans may catch a glimpse of their favorite salsa orchestra. These young salsa ambassadors our bringing the salsa sounds straight from the streets of New York City to the world.

La Ventana

“La Ventana” came together in Jan. 2005 from a core of long-time Bay Area Musicians who all shared the same musical vision
“Performing Our Own Unique Brand of Latin Music,” the band describes as “Salsa Rock.”

“LV” Band members have opened for and shared the stage with Santana, Marc Anthony, Sapo, The Dazz Band, Chepito Areas and Cobra, Joyce Cooling, Ray Obiedo, Vinyl, Pride and Joy, Safari and will open the 2007 “Voices of Latin Rock,” event with Gregg Rolie (Santana/Journey) and Latin Legends, “Malo” at the Fox Theater in Redwood city, Ca.

This band of eight, features the sensational and crowd pleasing, long-time Bay Area frontman Carlos Elizalde (lead Vocals) and his co-writing partner, Guitar master Johnny De La Cruz. The man behind the pulse is long-time Bay Area Bassist, Gordon Rehm, and dual keyboarding wizards, Blaine Hoopes (Sax and Flute also) and Jose Angel Amador (Muntuno King and Co-lead Vocalist.) Underlying all this is a percussion section who have been gaining rave reviews throughout the Bay, long-time hitter legend, Mio “Timbalero” Flores (Timbales/Percussion.) The time keeper, Gary DiGrazia Sr, “PapiD” (Congas/Bongos), and original “Sapo” band member, trap-set player, Bobby “Boy” Gaviola.

“LV” eight man unit has their first CD “Window to Your Soul” out and are gaining a rave reviews throughout the Bay Area. “La Ventana” music is a cross between Salsa, Rock, Gypsy Rock and Soul, mixing it all together in a very unique way. The energy from their music and performance on stage has labeled them “The Band” to see live…..

(quote Whispering & Hollerin CD review). Latin rock doesn’t get any better than La Ventana… La Ventana cruise to a Spanish flavored mix of original pop, rock, latin and soul. Having an 8 member line-up can certainly boost a group’s power, but nobody overshadows the other. Lead vocalist Carlos Elizalde is an entertainers entertainer. The band also features 2 Original Founding Members of the Bay Area’s own SAPO who toured the Nation with several radio hits. La Ventana has opened for Santana, Malo, Tierra, War, Joe Bataan, Greg Rollie and Marc Anthony and was voted the Hottest Latin Rock Band in the Bay Area by the “Voices of Latin Rock” Somehow with everything going on La Ventana is able to stay focused, letting each musician push the beat forward, instead of dragging it into another direction. La Ventana blends together flawlessly, raising the spirts with a spectacular party atmosphere. It’ll leave you breathless, especially if you are dancing the enitre time. La Ventana represents the State of Art in Latin Music. Check out this High energy band…….

Leslie inherited her love of music from her musical family. Her father, Raul Lugo, a Professional Engineer by trade, is also a classical guitarist. Her mother, Bitsy, and her paternal grandmother would sing at family gatherings. As a baby, Leslie’s first words were sung, not spoken. Instead of the usual “Mama” and “Dada” that most babies utter, Leslie sang “Wild Fire”, the two words of a popular song she had heard on the radio. For her amazed parents, this was the first indication that Leslie loved music. While still a baby, Leslie would carry a carrot the same way one holds a microphone, singing and making up song lyrics as she went along. Leslie’s first steps in her creative life were developed at a very early age. Barely reaching the strings of the guitar as she sang, Leslie, at 5 years old, was already performing for her pre-kindergarten class. During her early years, Leslie was The San Antonio and Texas State Winner of Young American Stars. She was a Trophy Winner at the “Talent Showcase” International Model & Talent Association in New York City where she competed against hundreds of singers from all over the world.

At the tender age of sixteen, Leslie Lugo, was selected as Lead Vocalist for one of the primer orchestras in Texas, The Ramiro Cervera Orchestra, a San Antonio institution with a 17-piece aggregation of music veterans. She performed locally, throughout Texas, as well as in other states on occasion. Shortly after, while still in High School, she joined a popular local band, a Latino beat ensemble led by experienced accomplished musicians. At eighteen years of age and the youngest performer, Leslie represented Texas in the prestigious National OTI (Organizacion de Televisoras Ibero-Americanas) song contest in Miami, Florida. She performed live, via The Univision International TV network, before an estimated 200 million television viewers in 33 countries in the U.S. and Latin America. Leslie was also featured on two telecasts of “Ritmo Internacional”, a TV show via the Hispanic Telemundo Network and broadcast from Walt Disney World Pleasure Island in Orlando, Florida.

By the age of 19, Leslie Lugo struck out on her own, forming her own band and entertaining audiences with a variety of English/Spanish music. ”The Leslie Lugo Band” has performed in numerous festivals, conventions, concerts and special events, such as: The Festival Latino and Noche De Gala Festival in Washington, D.C., National El Presidente Latin Music Songwriting Talent Search in Los Angeles, Calif., The Selena World Premier Movie Gala Celebration in San Antonio, Texas, National Council of La Raza National Convention in Dallas, Texas, The Lulac Foundation Achievement Award Ceremony in Houston, Texas and The George Washington Celebration Noche Mexicana, Colonial Ball and Noche De Cabaret in Laredo, Texas. El Camino To Fame, a bilingual National syndicated TV show that utilized the technologies of the Internet, featured Leslie as Co-Host and was televised from Fiesta Texas Theme Park in San Antonio, Texas.

Leslie’s debut album has taken her musical career on a new journey artistically and personally reflecting a true representation of where Leslie Lugo is today. She wrote or co-wrote four of the songs on her new album adding her own personal creativity and feeling to her music. The CD is a Latin mix of exciting original music with Leslie performing the powerful tracts brilliantly, blending heart and soul with her unique style. Her charisma, drive and marvelous ability to captivate and enchant her audiences over the past few years has brought her to the forefront of the entertainment world as she continues to celebrate great milestones in her illustrious career.

Collectively, Orquesta FIESTA has over 20 years of experience in the music business; beginning from the day these recording artists started working together in New York City. As performers, this talented group began performing throughout the NY metropolitan area, including NJ, CT and PA. They established themselves as one of the best local bands the city had to offer, working corporate events, the nightclub scene and the college circuit.

Now in Florida, these singers have performed at some of the most prestigious venues, hotels & resorts, nightclubs, concerts and festivals in Florida, including The Ritz Carlton Hotel & Resort (Orlando), The Portofino Hotel & Resort (Universal Studios, Orlando), The Windham Hotel & Resort (Orlando), The Parrot Jungle (Miami) and the 2009 Florida State Fair (Tampa).

The backbone of this Salsa orchestra is their bandleader, lead singer and composer, Jorge Laureano, who has been involved in all aspects of this industry for over 20 years. His vision of having a bi-lingual, Latin music concept also included having a female vocalist who could hold her own. He discovered talented Lee Malavet twelve years ago while she performed with another band and the two have been working together on stage ever since!

These recording artists have been the featured attraction for several concerts and festivals in Florida such as the Orlando Salsa Congress, the Salsafest in Tampa, the FishHawk Ranch Summer Concert Series and the Florida State Fair. On television, FIESTA orchestra was the featured musical attraction performing live on a popular Miami show called… (“El Show de Fernando Hidalgo”),
