KJ Hines
Raised in the church KJ Hines has always been connected to music. Young Austin, Texas rapper KJ Hines is focused, talented, and dedicated to his musical dream.
At the age of 12 KJ began to play in a Christian band. He also played piano at his church with his father playing percussion. He later focused his attention to other activities that interested him. He was heavily involved in martial arts as well as skateboarding. When he was 15 he self produced a CD called “Success” with a young singer. By the time he turned 16 the group had split up and KJ had new dreams of being a solo artist. In the same year KJ opened up a show for Houston rapper Lil Flip. This was his first time to perform for a large crowd, but it wouldn’t be his last. From that point on KJ began to network and soon met rapper Mike Jones. After being told that he may have a chance to work with Mike Jones on his mix-tape “Ice Age the Takeover” KJ was soon let down by the news that he would not be involved. This disappointment only made him stronger and more driven. He later met Tim Baily through a family member who helped him produce the song “Daily Grind” and helped produce his first professional album titled “Capitol City”.
When he was 17 the song “Capitol City” was played on the radio for the first time and later that year shot a video for it. Baby Boy da Prince heard the song “Captiol City” and was interested in the young rapper. He was gracious enough to invite KJ to be in his music video “The way I live”. He also went on tour with him.
When KJ was 18 he returned home and was slightly discouraged that he had not been signed yet. Making “trendy” songs and following the mainstream style of rap KJ was slowly losing hope.
When he was 19 he returned to his “musical roots” and began to make music he loved and appreciated. He met his band members and people were drawn into his new found style and sound. Now at the age of 20 KJ is still performing throughout the city and state and working on a new album titled “It’s my Time”.
